ODD COUPLE: Lenny Kravitz & Katy Perry Set To Light-Up The Superbowl

29 Jan ODD COUPLE: Lenny Kravitz & Katy Perry Set To Light-Up The Superbowl

While Revolucion typically features Latin Music artists, this week we thought we would join in the “Fandemonium” for the biggest night in sports and salute one of music’s greatest talents, Lenny Kravitz.

Here at Revolucion, we love a Super Bowl Halftime show, and we’re particularly excited that this year’s performer, Katy Perry, has invited Lenny Kravitz to join her on stage.

Perry and Kravitz may seem like an unlikely duo, but this is actually not Kravitz’ first dip in pop-music pond. Remember Madonna’s “Justify My Love” and its ridiculously sensual back-up vocals?  That’s Lenny Kravitz; Kravitz wrote, produced, and sang back-up vocals for the song.   The Queen of Pop must have liked his work, because she recruited Kravitz again in 2006, this time to perform alongside her for the Paris leg of her Confessions Tour.  With that background, we’re expecting revolutionary things from this Sunday’s Perry/Kravitz halftime show.  Good choice Katy.

This isn’t the first time that a newer pop act has been paired with a veteran rock act during the halftime show – Mars performed last year alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which drew in a record 111.5 million viewers. This year, between the crippling snow foretasted in the Midwest and the media around “Deflate-gate” this years halftime show is sure to shatter those records. Rock on Lenny.
